Indonesia – Jakarta Mural Competition

While in Jakarta a local street artist/punk rocker I met invited me to come down to the Institut Kesenian Jakarta annual mural competition. Every year they invite people to come down over a weekend and paint the perimeter walls of the art college, I counted around 70 different paintings. You each get a wall that is around 2m x 2m and a bunch of free acrylic paint to use. It was totally dark by the time i finished painting so I didn’t get too many shots of the other walls.

Indonesia – Taring Babi (fish painting)

I stayed with Taring Babi for a few days while in Jakarta. A really nice collective of people that make punk music, folk music, woodcut prints, paintings and tattoo’s. They have a collective house in quiet area of Jakarta where you feel more like you are hanging around in a village than in a crazy city of over 10 million people. A nice place to relax and make some art…
